John 12:44-46  Then Jesus cried out, "Whoever believes in me does not believe in me only but in the one who sent me. The one who looks at me is seeing the one who sent me. I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in me should stay in darkness."

OBSERVATION:

Jesus = LIGHT

Photography is a recording of light

Jesus often refers to himself as "LIGHT" and if you do not see the "LIGHT", you live in darkness. Do you know when I am closest to God, to Jesus, and to the Holy Spirit? When I am in LIGHT, and when I am recording light. I have grown to sense the triune God most when I am enthralled and submersed in photography.

The mere wonder of the way I see creation makes my soul sing. The way vegetation grows. The way the sun treks across the sky. Flower petals. Baby toes. It is all about creation...and wonder... and light...and LIGHT.

The light created by God illuminates this world. The LIGHT given to us by God illuminates our lives.

APPLICATION:  Thanks be to God that we have the miraculous solar system that illuminates and energizes our world. However, it is Jesus who illuminates and energizes our lives. If we believe in and follow our risen Savior, we use his LIGHT to focus on:

  • The paths that we take and decisions we make
  • The way we view the world and others
  • How we love our neighbors
  • Everything!

PRAYER:  Gracious God, thank you for the LIGHT, your son, Jesus. Thank you for illuminating the way for us through his dark days,  death and resurrection. We are grateful for the way in which you turned darkness into LIGHT and give direction in our lives. We pray that we seek you always and turn our backs on the darkness of this world. Keep us in your LIGHT (light), Lord. Amen.
