Mary is pregnant now with Jesus. She decides to visit her MUCH older cousin Elizabeth who is pregnant     with John the Baptist. When Mary greets Elizabeth, John does summersaults at the sound of Mary’s voice. Elizabeth interprets it as “leaps of joy.” The sense is that John recognizes the mother of Messiah before anyone else does. Seems a little crazy, but the take away here is that when we come home to Jesus – when we take the chance that Advent gives us to reconnect our lives to him again - we connect again to this grace we don’t deserve and this forgiveness that he offers and this reminder that life lived in absolute trust of his heart and presence really does bring joy to our lives!
