Philippians 4:10-13, 19
Oh how we worry about money! Will I have enough for the rest of my life? Will I have enough for the rest of this month? How will I pay for college? How will I PAY OFF college? Should I buy medication or pay the electric bill? Should I eat or put gas in the car? Answers to these questions lie in where we look for the resources we need. Paul tells the Philippians he knows what it’s like to live in plenty and in want. In ALL situations, “ALL things through Christ…ALL your needs according to his riches in Christ Jesus.” Contentment in life situations is not a manufactured smile or attitude that denies the present realities or struggles. It’s the product of life grounded and trusting in the unlimited riches of God given at just the right time in just the right way. I don’t suppose we’ll ever NOT worry some about money in our culture. But that worry met by contentment grounded in trusting the riches and wisdom of God can help bring peace to our anxious minds.
As you read the following psalms, note references of trusting in God.
